| Nero ver 6 robbing audio from Windows Media Player?
After installing Nero ver 6, I loose the audio from Windows media player. Uninstalling Nero fixes the problem ... Any ideas how to get around this? TIA Keith |

After installing Nero, close it.
Open Media Player and then Tools, Options, File Types to re-associate the files that Nero stole.
I believe you can avoid this from happening within the beginning of the Nero install. Each one of the features to be installed will offer some kind of Custom installation button. You should always customise your installs to see what is being installed on your computer along with the intended software. Sometimes unnecessary programming is installed. (This is how folks get 3 versions of Acrobat Reader on their machines.) During one of the feature installs of the suite you'll get the chance to deselect the file types that you don't want changed from Media Player and other programs. |

Thanks for the reply Beemer, I did as you suggested in para 1, unfortunately it has made no difference :-( Still plays the DVD with no sound. If I open a sound file it plays that OK. I'll try reinstalling Nero. Again thanks for your suggestions. |

Just a suggestion... try installing Nero without the Nero Media Player. |

Hi DanU
Thanks for the suggestion, the version of Nero 6 that I have is the OEM one and it seems to consist of just burning software - I have installed-reinstalled Nero a dozen times GRrr.. Each time I install it the sound output on Windows Media Player is killed, otherwise it (WMP) operates normal - Uninstall Nero and I have sound again!
Do you think it could it be a registery entry problem? Really desperate! :-( |

Hmm... well the only other thing I can think of is to upgrade to the latest version of Nero (check online if there is a patch) and also upgrade WMP. There may be some conflict with the versions you have. Sorry I couldn't be of more help |

Thanks guys for the assistance and link, I will get the downloads as suggested - I think I have circumvented the problem by consolidating all my media players into just one application by downloading "Media Player Classic" and using it. Well I haven't run into any problems so far.
Again thanks ... Keith |
