Bazooka is OK but it doesn't remove anything. You click on a link to access Bazooka web site and there you have removal instructions usually long and complicated process if you're not into computer that much. |

BTW, avoid ZoneAlarm right now. I don't know what went wrong with their newest update, but it wreaked havoc with my internet activity. I had to remove it.
Also, I recommend Web Eraser and CCleaner, also free. | I also had a disaster with ZoneAlarm's most recent update (6.1.737.000) on Marcia's machine; see here. I haven't installed it on mine.

Agreed on avoiding anything Norton (except the Corporate edition)...and I do remember having big time issues with Zone Alarm not playing nicely with other software. Quote: |

I also use Avast!, Adaware and Spybot on one pc and Avast! and M$ Anti Spy on another. Both arrangements do a good job. The M$ Anti Spy runs like an anti virus program in the background. Recently Consumer Reports rated PC Cillin as the top retail anti virus and Avast! as the top free anti virus.

Together all the programs mentionned here should do a good job only if they are updated regulary of course. Except for those that don't need to be updated (?) there's only one way to keep the computer at his full potential and it's to avoid getting bad things at first.
Scan emails
Scan the computer with anti virus and anti spyware
Verify if your computer is open to outsider
Always use passwords and don't tell them to anybody
Don't install any peer to peer programs (Kazaa, LimeWire, iMesh...etc), files downloaded from the web comes from other computers that you don't know anything about.
I have friends that knows computers and work with them for a living and by using peer to peer programs they also get infected.
Backup your important stuff
Backup your registry
Your computer will be forever yours |
