Spybot doesn't detect everything...I did have problems like this before(I also ran Spybot a few times), so I tried AdAware SE...it detected 10-20 things that were screwing up my connection...after it removed them, my pc was back to normal. |

I had a similar problem; IE would work fine, Opera would work fine, but FF would timeout about 30% of the time... It got worse every day too, eventually it was almost impossible to browse the net, and IE and Opera were timing out too; though I could still download on BitTorrent at full speeds, or FTP things without a problem... In the end, replaced my router and all was well.
I guess, try connecting your computer directly to the broadband modem and see if that improves anything... if it does, replace your router... if it doesn't I'd suggest contacting your ISP.
And I second EX's suggestion on using multiple anti-spyware proggies to scan; I usually only use MS AntiSpyware and AdAware regularily; but its still a good idea, especially if you're having issues.

Ok, I REALLY need some help with this, it's getting worse.
It fails about 70% of the time now, and it's very anoyying and most images on a site won't load up. I'm gonna call Comcast tomorrow to see if it's anythign wrong on their end. In the meanwhile, any tips? |

do you have multiple computers on your network, or just one? If you have a bunch....are they all experiencing the same problem, or just one? |

RESOLVED!
I fixed the problem a few weeks ago, but forgot to share what fixed it:
I had UPnP turned on on my router and didn't really need it. What UPnP was doing was broadcasting it's info every 5 seconds, so I was thinking that if you send a request from FF or IE (anything really) at the same time as a broadcast, that might cause an immediate timeout.
So i turned it off, it didn't affect anything connected to my router (i was tryin to get my 360 to connect to live, and was trying anything and everything) then once it was off, no timout issues!!!
Well there you have it, nothing wrong with the router itself, just the settings were causing timeouts, hope that helps other with similar problems! |
