IR Software for Remote Control on PC?
Anyone know of open source software that could allow me to use a standard remote control (the type used for TV or stereo system) to control pc or laptop applications?
Some time ago, I bought a small remote, that came with a USB IR receiver, I used it to control winamp and windows media player from a distance (while listening to music or watching movies).
Some time ago the remote stopped working, and the software that came with it doesn't have the option to be set up with a new (different remote).
OS is Win XP Pro.
Thanks in advance.

Buy a new remote and IR receiver, which in turn will come with software and DRIVERS compatible with that piece of hardware.

If your OS was a *nix you could possibly use lirc. But I am unaware of any open source equivalents for winders, sorry.
Cheers
MickI don't like sigs on forums like this.
