Windows Backup Restore

OK, I'm migrating my home server to newer hardware. I've migrated the OS to the new hard drive but now I realize I want to have that hard drive partitioned into two partitions. (Too bad I didn't think of that first.)

So, I backed up the new installation with Windows Backup and moved it to another disk. After I Fdisk the disk and partition it, how do I restore it? Do I load a fresh copy of Win 2003 then use the Backup utility to restore it?

I've not used Windows Backup. But usually you can't restore installations to a smaller partition.

In that case, I wawill use Ghost 2003 (Ghost 9 does not work on Win 2003 but the floppy backup of Ghost 2003 will) to make a disk image and store the image on another drive. Then, I will Fdisk the original and partition it. Next, restore the image to the smaller partition.

Either the above or declare that it's not worth it and live with the bigger drive.
