Windows Firewall Problem
Hey guys, on my lappy Windows Firewall is grayed out and I can't figure out how to get it un-grayed-out. I uninstalled SP2 and then re-installed it to no avail. Any ideas?

Could be a virus...I have seen this before...do you have any antivirus installed?

yeah, AVG, it (WF) wouldn't work like right when I reformatted. AVG comes up with nothing, Spybot always comes up with commandservice which might be something but it never gets rid of it, I should probably just go delete it out of the windows folder.

The windows firewall wouldn't work right from installing XP?

It could be a corrupt install...though I would think that reinstalling SP2 would have fixed it...it might be easier to reinstall XP...if you don't have much installed, or anything you would need to backup...
You could look into using the repair option from the windows install...I think you would need to uninstall SP2, reboot with your XP disk, and boot to it, then run the repair console, and repair XP...I don't know exactly how to do it so if you don't know, you will have to look for a guide."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

Well, you should get a better firewall...but ignoring this, and covering it up with a different one is probably not a good idea...
But sygate is a very good firewall
