FireFox extensions won't install
Once or twice amonth for quite a wile now I try to install some FF extensions. The install window comes up but when I click the install button a blank extensions window comes up. Have been unable to install even one! ANY ideas?
Also if I reinstall FF, is there a way to keep my book marks?

To save your bookmarks go to Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks, then do File>Export...
Then you can do File>Import... after you reinstall

Firefox Extensions Wont Install
I've had a similar problem off and on which on occasion was solved by using the Nightly tester tools extension to override comatability, however this hasn't worked recently for me so I googled and found this:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/unable_to_..._or_extensions
Basically all you do is type "about:config" (without quotes) in the location bar, then "xpi" in the filter box and make sure that "xpiinstall.enabled" is set to "true" - double clicking will toggle it on and off.
unfortunately it didn't work for me, as it was already enabled - but if I find another solution I will post - most likely I already have too many extensions and too many conflicts.Last edited by Cade Foster; April 19th, 2006 at 07:09 PM.

Thanks Cade but the links you gav say "crrently no text in this file", oh well!
Couldn't download Nightly tester either. When I first started using FF I had no problem like this.

Sry bout that Chapper - didn't check the link...weird...anyway if you google "Firefox extensions wont install" its the third link from the bottom titled "Unable to install themes or extensions" The link below should take you to the Nightly tester tools website, which once u install n restart will give you a check box in the xpi installation window to override compatability..it works quite well for me

Found a Solution
I was having the same problem and after a few reinstallations I think I found the source.
If you have all-in-one sidebar installed, click tools-extensions, when the extensions window pops up double click "All-In-One Sidebar".
On the options menu click the miscellaneous button and go to extensions (should be the first option)
uncheck "Open in sidebar" and restart firefox.
If you don't have All-in-one sidebar installed this obviously won't help you but I hope this solved the problem for someone.

first off, do you have the latest version (help --> about --> version 1.5.0.2 as of right now). If you have the current version, click tools --> options --> content --> and make sure you have it checked to ask you when a website tries to install an extension or toolbar. then, try and install a toolbar, you should get a prompt that asks if u wanna install it
. say yes and let it finish installing. Once you're done with that, restart firefox and let us know how it goes
.
