Firefox 1.5.0.1 Default Window location and size.
A few days ago Firefox 1.5.0.2 was released and i updated to that but when i did and i restarted i found that each time i opened firefox it would open a window that was 920x1200 on the left side of my screen and every other window new/fresh opened would also default and open there. I run windows xp pro on a Insperion 9300, screen res always at 1920x1200. Usually when i open up firefox it will open in the last location and size that i closed it. Now it will only default on the left sde of my screen when i open firefox. Does anyone know how to remove the default window setting. in the end i tried uninstalling firefox 1.5.0.2 and removing the mozilla dir and registry entries and reinstalling 1.5.0.1 with no change.
thanks.i9300, lovin it!

The window size is in the profile folder in localstore.rdf
Mine looks like this
Code:<RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#main-window" screenX="0" screenY="0" height="734" width="690" sizemode="maximized" />

I have the same problem as well. Been having it for several months now. Hope we can find a fix soon because it is pretty annoying sometimes.

You could try renaming localstore.rdf to oldlocalstore.rdf (with FF closed) and saving.
Then open FireFox and let FireFox create a new localstore.rdf.
I tried it as an experiment just to make sure a new localstore.rdf is created and it worked fine for me.
If it goes bad for you, just rename oldlocalstore.rdf back to localstore.rdf.
I found some official directions here to reset localstore.rfd

You can also search around the above site to find a cure.Last edited by laylow; April 16th, 2006 at 05:26 AM.

Hey laylow, thanks for those ideas but non of those seem to help. My localstore.rdf doesnt seem to hold that type of info when i open it with notepad. I've looked all through about:config and found nothing. I'm kinda glad i'm not that only one looking for a solution but this is getting rather annoying.
If anyone has any other ideas it would be great!i9300, lovin it!

There is more than one localstore.rfd, here is a link to finding the correct one.
