Hmmm.... Quote:
Please note that so far this has only been proven to apply to people who have never run the bundled copy of MS-Windows on their machine, and thus can say they have never accepted the terms of the MS-Windows license; this entitles them to a refund.
It also appears to be the case, but remains to be legally determined whether choosing to cease accepting the license, and deleting Windows also entitles you to a refund. Certainly the EULA (available below) appears to read that if the software (Windows) does not perform (crashes) your remedy may be refund. If this is the case, we are no longer talking about only the OEM versions. Any attornies care to comment?
| Very old site by the looks: Quote: |
February 15th, 1999 was Windows Refund day, and the event went well.
| M$ has prolly changed the EULA by now to cover this. I've never heard of refunds recently. | |

uh-oh............here's storm2k to throw scorn at another Linux thread.
Of course it's true. I remember seeing the news coverage of the event.
Oh yea, forgot to mention, Red Hat trashed my pc and is the most foul excuse for an OS ever inflicted on consumers. Germ

It was sarcastic pb, referring to what storm said about drake earlier, although it was not quite that harsh. |

This appears to have fizzeled (sp?) out. Couldn't find anything from this year, or last...
Anyone else find anything recent? Would be very interested...
PS: Can this be used as a precedent against other bundled software? Namely AOL??? |

doh! Okay - I did see Storm's lack of respect for the distribution Mandrake.
Let me restate my earlier post:
"Germ - as much as I respect you in the linux arena and the helpful information you have posted here at TechIMO I must disagree with your summary of Red Hat Linux as an operating system because it has performed quite well for me and several others I know."
This is not a linux board, as at least one person has infered (see the poll "Which operating system so you use") and as such I really would like to see distro wars not occur here (not that what I want means didly...) , this is because
1. Distro wars are stupid, if you are smart enough to nit pick the intricacies of distro X then perhasps you should create your own - like Spooky Linux
2. MS Windows users may laugh at the silly linux users taking part in these tirads.
3. It is really a waste of time.
anywho...
not that there has been anything like a distro war here at TechIMO - just a little prempetive post.
