Wow...just looked at word 2007 Beta(didn't check out any of the others yet)...and it is friggin awsome...
(it looks a little weird...supload must have shrunk the image a bit...and the text is a little screwy)
If you want to try it out, you can do so here: http://www.microsoft.com/betaexperie.../register.aspx
(you can also try out the Vista beta once they release it)
Its not too bad of a download...its defintaly smaller than you would think...440MB for everything...Access, Excel, InfoPath( ), Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word, and a few smaller things... |

Powerpoint 2007 is very cool too.
I've been using office off and on since office 95, and there are several issues I've had with it for a long time that they finally fixed. The big thing is that they now have a connection tool akin to openoffice that allows you to connect two boxes (such as text boxes) together and it draws an arrow from one to the other. Then when you move boxes around with it the connection tracks that movement. Before arrows and text boxes with borders actually wouldn't line up properly unless you messed with the numerical position in the properties.
There is also a PDF export function that I noticed.
I really like the interface too...it's finally not just about eye candy (like 2002 and 2003), but there is actually a productivity reason.
In short office actually seems intuitive for the first time ever. I've just started using it though, so we'll see if I hold the same opinion after a while. |

Hey...did you get yours to let you activate? Ever time I try it goes about 1/4 of the say over during activation then says
"The activation wizard is unable to find a connection to the internet. Please make sure that your connection is working properly and then retry activation in a few minutes."
Ya, the looks work very well this time...and everything is organized properly also...so its all easy to find.
EDIT: Plus the programs load extremely fast...not like Office XP!

Lol, office 2003 is so annoying loading(maybe because of network but i don't know/care). it takes ages and if you cancel it it loads like normal anyway....waste of a click IMO.
I look foward to using the BETA as i was going to get open office instead(my office 2003 trial ran out ) |

I can't register either. The forums at ars technica has a lot of people saying the same thing. I think their servers are really overloaded right now.
I was also impressed with load times. And this isn't even in vista yet with hardware winfx support! |

You have to authenticate after you install it...just like you have to authenticate a windows install after you're done...that's what we are having issues with. |

I used excel and Word and I can say its pretty nice, liked the themed menus so you actually see what you are going to do.
I can say its been a refreshing change, probably will get confused die hard users a little bit in the beginning, but its pretty nice, autocomplete work with formulas very nice speaking of excel.
Looks like they are doing that suite in the right direction. |

Instead of Frontpage...I reccomend you try this... http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/
Visual Web Developer 2005 Express...free...easy to use...and I really like it...other than the stupid autocomplete...so that if you type
<td>
it makes it
<td></td>
Once I figure out how to disable that...it will be a lot better...but its decent now... |
