    Printer Sharing question

Hi. Not sure where to post this, this seems to be where I get the best advise. I have a 4 in 1 printer attached to my main computer via USB. I have another computer I want to share the printer with. How must it be connected, by usb also or can I use some other type of cables as I have several here in a box. Just wanted to ask before I blew it up lol thanks..if so, what type of cable do I need, something like a Y-Splitter? I have first a cable modem, connected to a linksysyt router. Printer is attached with USB cable. Thanks

Both computers are connected to the router? Then you don't need any other cables. Just go into Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer, go to sharing, check the box and put in a name. Then go to the other computer and add the printer, say network printer, and browse for it.

You might have to run the network setup wizard on each computer first if you haven't already.

You shouldnt need to run the wizard.

Share the printer like GameMank said

then on the other computer go to start, run then type \\ip of the comptuer with the printer\printer name

so if the computer is 192.168.1.100 with the name hpprinter

    you would do \\192.168.1.100\hpprinter

    simple!

(make sure you have third party firewalls off or allow the connections)

yes Chapper it will work over the wireless. Wireless is no different than being plugged in. You can do everything that a wired computer can do. Just with no cables

I never use the printer software as i dont edit pictures or anything like that. All i use is the printer drivers.
