    .sqm files

    hey guys
i wonder if anyone can help me answer my question - i just got a new laptop, i'm running win xp home and i noticed that i got loads of .sqm files on c:\ and i think the number grows every day. i have no idea what these are and never seen them before on my old laptop (i had win xp pro). they are hidden files and i tried to google it but am none the wiser as to what they are or where they come from or what they needed for. all it says is those are game files and "Mission file for Operation Flashpoint, a military tactical combat simulation game". i'm not running any games on my computer. one website suggested they got something to do with the new windows live messenger, which i did install. anybody has a clue? much appreciated. thanx

More info: They're "Service Quality Monitor" data collection timer files created from Windows Live Messenger, and are apparently safe to delete. You can try CCleaner here: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/ and cleanup the trash.

Another great program is RegScrubXP, usually it removes unuses Reg Entries and does a good job doing it: http://www.sofotex.com/RegScrubXP-download_L7528.html

The .sqm file can be remove but it is not doing any harm to your computer

thanx for ur replies guys i did delete the files and nothing bad happened, so i guess it IS safe to delete them they might not be harmful to the computer but it's annoying to look at them everytime i go to my c:\ because there were so many of them!
