| burning an ISO image problem
I am a student at a local college. We have the opportunity to download Microsoft OS's to use while a student. My first attempt at doing this has failed. What is the proper method, using Nero, to burn an ISO image to CD so I can use it on a test computer? I just dragged and dropped in Neros 6.0 create a boot disk. Seemed to go ok. Trying to use the burned disk I get an error code 4 no operating system. At least it was recognized as a boot disk I'm pretty sure the OS is there because the file has 484 MB of data. Its just me not knowing exactly how to do it with Nero. I can wait until tomorrow and check at school but I would like to get this thing going today. Greatful for any help.

Did you have boot from cd enabled on your PC?
In Nero StartSmart, go to Copy and Backup.
Select Burn Image to Disc.
Navigate your way to the ISO file.
You should be able to figure out the rest. I just don't have an ISO handy on this PC to check. |

Yes, boot from CD is enabled. It attempted to boot but as I said in first post no OS found. So I tried your method and got an error in Nero that says 'block size does not correspond to image length'. Now what? Any ideas? It does give me a choice to change between two block sizes but both come up with the same error. |

using, data/ "Nero Burning Rom" |

I thank you all for the attempted help. Uncle Bob, burning as a data disk won't boot. A#1's method results in Nero not showing up in the options. Don't quite know how to change that. Even if I browse Nero doesn't show. I do have Nero. All the disks I burn if I look at the file name on the disk it shows 'en_windows_server_2003_enterprise.iso'. I even used windows CD burning program and get the same results. No os found after bios checks for the CD. Guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow and do it at school. |

using Nero select burn image to cd. Then when the new box comes up(open file box) telling to select the image close that, then select disk image and choose your iso file and burn. Don't use the bootable disk selection as it will not expand the iso. The iso once expanded on disk is bootable by itself. |

When trying your method as soon as I select the image in the open file box it automatically jumps to an error "block size does not correspond to image length". If I try to open the image with anything like explorer I get a little boop sound and nothing happens. I'm done. Thanks for trying. |

actually myself when working with iso files i always use something like 'win-iso' or 'iso buster' to extract the files to a folder and burn that way...if you look around you can find a trial version of one of these. |
