Excel - How do you exclude weekend dates in a chart?
Trying to generate a chart using a data range where dollars are in the Y axis and dates are in the X axis. The source data range for the X axis does not include weekend dates. However, the charting function insists on including those dates in the chart that it outputs. The resulting Friday datapoint is spread across Friday-Sunday. Any way to tell it to use the dates in my source data range and not whatever default procedure it may be using? NETWORKDAY and WORKDAY don't seem to apply to this situation. Am I wrong? Are either of those functions applicable to charts?
I'm using MS Excel 2003.
Thanks!

Right click on the chart, goto "Chart Options".
under the "axis" tab you should see "Category (X)-axis" - Change the radio button from "automatic" to "category"

It's about time and trial. Next time you have questions in MS Excel or Word, the fastest way to get the answer is to search for it in the Help Menu (in Excel or Word) or Google them.

Yeah, VHockey's got it. I played around a bit and got found the exact same workaround. I guess I should have read the whole thread before I wasted my time...

Thanks!
Thanks VHockey86, that worked perfectly!
CalvinLuck: Sorry for being a n00b! I DID look in the help files, but never came across the solution. Guess I must've taken some wrong turns there. Didn't think of googling it, but, thanks to your suggestion, I'll know to do that in the future, thanks!Last edited by joe3eagles; September 4th, 2006 at 04:50 AM.

Just a note to whoever left me negative rep calling me an arrogant jerk:
I was just trying to help in the thread. I wasn't talking bad about anybody else, but was ragging on myself for not reading ahead...

How about in Excel 2007?
In Excel 2007 right-clicking a chart does not bring up anything that says "Chart Options". Can you explicitly say how this is done in Excel 2007?
Thanks!
