I now have a Compaq Presario PC. 3.20 gigs, 512 megs of ram. Only questions I have is.. First of all, it came LOADED with alot of Norton. Norton Antivirus, Nortion internet security and onboard LAN and Onboard Vidio, which is taking 64 megs of my ram (Shared Memory" Slow performance, slow response to opening progs, and slow response to internet. I have cable. If I uninstall all Norton, and replace with Avast and Sygate firewall, Would that help? ALSO, if I disable onboard video in the bios, will it allocate that 64 megs to the system or reserve it only for onboard video? I have a Diamond Stealth s540 32 meg AGP graphics card that I could put into it. Not sure what to do yet. Need a performance increase. 3.20 gigs should run circles around my Athlon 750 Slot A 256megs of PC-133 SDRAM but it dont even come close to doing that. Advise? Suggestions? thought I should ask for advise before I make any changes. Have run Nortion systerm works and also system mechanic on Compaq, still dont notice much performance increase. I have an Idea that if I take all Norton software out, that will solve half my problem, but wanted to make sure. I can re-install it if I want to with the recovery CD. Thanks for any advice. It a Compaq Persario SR1803WM. I will NEVER get a store bought computer again.. Loaded with a bunch of junk I will never use.
