    Windows wont load

    Hello everyone

When I try to start my computer i get the mobo info and other stuff then it moves on to the windows xp load screen but it just stays at this point as if it were loading but does nothing.

I was able to start in safe mode where i ran an antivirus program but found nothing.

I also got a new mobo recently but it worked fine for a while.

If anyone has any ideas they would be much appriciated.

wanna elaborate on that? you've experienced no problems since installing it is what you're saying? how long ago was this?

It sounds as if you have tried placing a new mother board with an old hard drive which can cause many problems, especially on boot. When the drivers for the OLD motherboard are loaded, they will lock up the system.

    I would try the following:

Run a repair of the Windows Installation. If this does not work, reinstall windows without formatting the drive. This will replace the Windows files AND cause all drives for the motherboard to be installed.
    now THIS is interesting....

boot the computer with the windows cd in and windows guides you though it, after that you have to find all the software that comes with your hardware and reinstall all of that.

it will delete everything, you'd have to back all that stuff up. You could, however, try to just install over your current installation. boot with the cd in, tell it to install on the drive windows is currently on, you would have to reinstall all the major programs though. All data would be there but windows wouldn't have the install info for the programs. I'm not really sure cause I always format.

if you end up formatting I'd suggest creating a 10 gig os drive partition so you can more easily save your media files on the rest of it

Is it possible that not deleting the old mobo drivers (which i didnt do) could be causing this problem?
