| Un-install windows messenger in windows 2000
Can any one help me un-install windows messenger in 2000 pro, the pop-ups are driving my sister-in-law crazy. I went into the "inf" folder, then to the "sysoc" file but there's nothing there about the messenger.
Thanks in advance.

Simply renaming the Programs Files\Messenger folder to a different name will kill it. | Yes Steve, it's hidden in Add/Remove Programs Windows Components.
How would I rename it |

I think I have bigger problems, I tried to go into msconfig and turn it off from there but it wouldn't let me......something about not there or wrong file name. I did a google search for disabling the messenger and found a command to run in pgedit and got the same message. I couldn't do anything from "Run". |

Messenger runs as a service.... if you turn off the service it won't bother you at next boot up. |
