I was using AVG Free on Vista RC1 5600. Now I've installed RC2 5744 and it is blocking the install of the latest version of AVG. I had updating problems with Avast on the Beta2 release. Anyone have an AV working on RC2?
Thanks |

MS said that some programs for RC1 may not work for RC2,
but it's up to the manufacture to update the programs,
which they will be doing soon, you would think, since this release,(or something close to it)
will be sent to the RTM's in november, and dell, HP and the rest will need to configure there new box's for Vista, so they will need to have some anti virus program running by then, nero claims they will have there stuff ready for vista soon, and there will be a free trial, I just hope they really work on this 64bit
program thing alot more, I think it will force the progams to support 64bit
and yes it will work on a 64bit CPU

sweeper2, do you already have a key for Beta2 or RC1? That key will work with this version too. |

i just got done installing Vista's latest release... man... going to buy this when it comes out... it's really a good system... (except for some of the products that Vista doesn't support... like my keyboard ... and my SoundBlaster Live 24bit ...
but i did find my old key for the first release of Vista and it worked...
Also, Avast does work with Vista... i am using Avast Home edition (64bit) with the Vista (64)bit version.... |

The problem I was having with Avast (32 bit) was the auto-updater didn't work. Had to open the program from the start menu (not the notifier icon) and manually update definitions and software. I'll give it another try to see if they corrected the problem.
I read AVG Free will work, you just have to force it to install.
My SoundBlaster Live is in a drawer because it gave me so many problems, especially with HL2. I've been using onboard for a while. |
