| Need help with Word/ Excel work
Hi everybody!
I need some help. I have 1300 names, addresses in an excel sheet that I need to take into a Word doc so it will print them onto labels. How would I go about this? I am using Word and Excel 2000.
Board_Num Board_Type Name Lic_Num Address 1 Address 2 City State Zip5 Zip4 Status
37 01 Ben JR Homer S 00**02 63 Victory PKY COLUMBUS GA 3***9 3**9 A
This is the way it is set up in Excel. I need just the name, address and title in the label and I need the labels that conform with a certain Avery label sheet for printing. Any ideas?
Thanks
Dave

Use the "Mail Merge" feature found under the "Tools" menu.
It has a pretty straight forward wizard and you can use Excel docs. |

Easy - just use mail merge! There is a wiz to set this up in the newer versions of office, including 2000.
If you get stuck or dunno how to start, PM me and we'll walk though it.
Or maybe clippy could help?!?
Cheers
Mick

I get this error when I try that. It looks like it will work but appears to have some problems in trying to get the info from the doc.
"Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to MS Excel to complete the currect task"
Thanks!

How far does it get into the merge before the error, Dave? And has the Excel doc got a header row? | |

OK Dave. Found this M$ support article. Maybe you need to select the correct method in Data Source.
Hope it helps

Got it. Thanks! I had to select the area I wanted and then it worked fine. I think the xls doc was created on an Excel 97 machine which may be why I had to copy the data over to a new xls doc. Thanks for the help, mate.
