Help with Windows 98 install
My brothers computer needs windows 98 reinstalled so I hooked the hard drive up to my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2) in slave mode and reformated it to FAT32.
When I attempt to install windows 98 I get error SU0013:
Setup could not create files on your startup drive and cannot set up Windows. If you have HPFS or Windows NT file system, you must create an MS-DOS boot partition. If you have LANtastic server or SuperStor compression, disable it before running Setup. See SETUP.TXT on Setup Disk 1 or the Windows CD-ROM.
I have never had a problem doing it this way before, although I have never done it on this computer and yes im sure its formated in FAT32. What do I need to do to fix this?Last edited by Tomlo; October 12th, 2006 at 01:22 AM.

Well this morning I messed around with FDISK and by unallocating all the space and letting windows 98 setup do the format it worked, I wonder why windows xp formats FAT32 differently?
