I ll attempt to be a bit more specific on what she s talking about, since I m the one who messed it up initially.
MacbookPro. intel core duo 2gz/1 gig ram/ati x1600 video. dual boot win xp and osx10 using bootcamp.
All network capabilities disappeared. I ran systemfilecheck and everything seemed to come back except for the video drivers. We are using the default vga driver now. The ATI driver that had dual monitor support is gone.
Here comes stupid move no.2: booted into osx, took install osx install disc #2,put it in the drive and hoped it contained some drivers. After I found out it didnt,I just rebooted to windows and... now the vga driver got hosed and I m looking at a screen with only like 8 colors or so.
I did a registry restore from around a month ago, rebooted and are back to the vga driver once again,so I shut it down. Upon reboot,it was back to the 8 or so color screen again.
It reverts back to the ugly screen every time I reboot the second time after a registry restore.
As far as video drivers go,I ve searched for hours looking for some. One cannot just download the latest and greatest ATI drivers for the X1600 and install them. Will not work.
The osx operating system using Bootcamp converts them to work with Windows. Then you burn them to a disc, boot to windows and then install them off of the disc. That is what I cant figure out how to do.
I realize this doesnt have much to do with operating systems

. Move if necessary. If theres anyone out there with any suggestions before our local computer guy gets here this afternoon,I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,eh?
Brad.
