W2k Server and hardware upgrades
ALthough I'm pretty sure this is impossible to do, I thought before I try anything I'd get some your input. I've got a server thats in dire need of an upgrade. It currently is an intel platform that is 6 years old. It is running W2k Server with mirrored hard drives. I want to swap in an AMD based board with a Athlon 64 processor all without having to format and rebuild the hard drives. With Win 98 you could this and it would just need a re-install of drivers for the hardware. With W2k Server, I don't think this is possible...or is it? Rebuilding won't be an issue for me, but saving time would be nice. Any suggestions?

can you upgrade the processor thats in the board now? (the max the board can take) and what about its current memory situation?
When you get into a total change like that It would probably be a real nightmare to try and do. Will the server even house the AMD board? (standoff positions)Mobile: Thinkpad T61 | WinXP Pro | C2D T8300 CPU | 3GB DDR2 | 320GB Hybrid SSD HDD | AGN & WWAN

Well I know you can transfer the raid drives,
You just need to make sure you set them up in the same order,
But transferring the os, you may be able to ghost it, w2k server
Also has a thing called risrep (I think) that will image the drive for you,
But you can not create the image on the same volume, so you will need
A drive to store it on,i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?
