Hey guys. I've been trying to install my copy of Windows XP Pro, and everytime i get into setup I get one of these errors. Ive been trying to get my comp up for weeks now and i still cant figure it out.... maybe its my mobo or something. Any help would be great. Thanks. BTW my XP is a legit copy, bought it with a 300g PATA seagate. |

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I get both:
Setupdd.sys could not be loaded. Error code 4.
and
The file I386\Ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 7.
The first code pops up when i hit F6 to see if anything else was
working. Then i tried to just let it load without touching
anything and i got the second error message.
I'm pretty sure its not my windows cd because its a legit copy,
and i dont think its the hardrive either because this is the
second one ive bought in hopes of replacing the old one, and
neither worked.
Hope this helps at all, thanks for responding.

Sorry for posting again but I took a look at the first link you posted in hopes of troubleshooting my machine. The steps listed don't seem like they apply to if you're doing a fresh install. Do you think it might work if i tried anyways? |

Damaged or incompatible hardware is the most likely cause...Try replacing the ram sticks. Or if you have two, take one out. |
