Word 2007!

Hi

I have Word 2007 installed on my machine and I typed some documents and send them to my friends. It seems that they have the older versions of Word and can't open my documents made with the 2007 version. How come there is this incompatibility? Is there anything that can be done to solve this thing?

Thanks

Word 2007 supports a new format I believe. And IIRC it is set to save as that file type by default.

Just save it as a different file type that older versions support.

Ex has it right. You need to click File>Save As> and set the format as Word 97-2003 (.doc).

Hm the one I sent them was Word document compatible 97-2003 with the extension .doc. I There is another version that is just Word document but the extension is .docx. Will that one work?

the .docx is the new word format and should not work with a previous version. The .doc is the old version and should work on their computers. Of course, since the .doc didn't work as it should, maybe the .docx will also do the opposite and actually work
