Asian languages
Since I am learning Japanese at the moment, I would like to have my computer be able to display Asian charachters, at the moment they all appear as "?" or boxes. Is there a driver/update I need to be able to display them?
Thanks

Control Panel -> Regional and Language Settings -> Languages tab -> Install files for East Asian languages checkbox. You will need your XP/2K disc.
Some programs aren't capable of unicode, so you won't get the characters no matter what, but I have only run into one or two so far.

Perfect thanks!
EDIT: Is there a way to do it without the CD? I need to go to the storage and get it, and I won't be able to go to the storage until next friday, so if there is a quick download solution that would be great. (I'll do a bit of reserch myself)Last edited by GiPilot12; April 28th, 2007 at 12:44 PM.

On XP, go to Control Panel > Date, time, language and regional options > Add other languages.
Edit. Beaten by Whir's super speedy typing.

AFAIK, you are going to need the CD for Windows 2K/XP. Looks like you will be waiting.

GiPilot, how are you going about learning japanese? Class? Internet? Books?

When Internet Exploder offers to install the fonts ( I think you may need to enable "Install on Demand" in IE properties ) does that use a download from the net or a CD based install?
