Question Replace current mobo and still use same WinXP OEM?

Howdy guys, all day I have been seriously planning out my budget on what new parts to get for my system. I am upgrading my AGP + Pentium 4 setup to a PCI-E + Core 2 Duo setup to get ready for Windows Vista.

My current P4 setup is a piece of crap for games today, so I only have enough money to get every upgrade I need EXCEPT for a new SATA hard drive and a new copy of Windows Vista.

What I want to do here to my system is upgrade the motherboard + ram + CPU + video card right now and continue to use my existing OEM Windows XP installation that is on my IDE hard drive. Once I harvest up enough dough to buy a new SATA drive with a copy of Windows Vista, I will most likely have my system Dual-boot with WinXP in the IDE drive and WinVista in the SATA drive side-by-side.

I am worried though, because I remember quite a while ago, it was mentioned somewhere that Microsoft considers a "new motherboard" means a "new personal computer" which equals "buy a new damn license from us lol".
(One link I found this on)

I read the directions and all that after swapping you current motherboard with a different new one, you got to repair install windows with the possibility of calling up Microsoft in the end for a reactivation code.

This is going to be my second time that I will change my motherboard for the sake of an upgrade. Last I checked, the last time I upgraded to my current motherboard and repaired WinXP + calling Microsoft (my AGP one I have right now) was December 2005.

The question is: Am I going to have to buy another copy of OEM Windows XP? Will my license I paid 90 bucks for be VOID?! This is the only thing that concerns me.

    Specs-
-OEM Windows XP SP2 Home Edition
    -Gigabyte GA-8I848P motherboard
-TWO 80GB hard drives that is both used by Windows XP (primary hard drive is WinXP installation, slave HDD is additional separate space)

    PC—e6420 2.16Ghz—2GB RAM—8800GT—ASUS P5LD2—XP
    EEE 1000H—1.6Ghz—1GB RAM—XP

No you will not have to buy a new license...
Simply call them if it wont reactivate online automatically, and explain that you had to replace a non working hard drive and reinstall windows...
They dont question you further than that...
This is a procedure I've had to do around 50+ times in the past couple months, using every version of XP they have...

ah, cool guys, thanks for letting me know. I have been planning to get the upgrades for a few months (after tireless researching on where to buy because of my tight budget) and after coming across that article I thought the Windows XP activation was going to screw my license over. Guess it shouldn't be too hard to do this again.

    thanks a bunch

The answer is, It depends on what manufacturer your OEM copy came from, which you failed to mention.

My Windows XP copy was purchased separately from newegg, it wasn't preinstalled or anything like that as if this was a Dell machine for example.

Here's an excellent tutorial on swapping out motherboards: Swapping your board without so much as a reinstall.

I've used this method a couple of times without any problems.

That has nothing to do with it at all...
