Vista upgrade probs?

Hi,
I am a web developer and currently the tools I need to do my job will only work on XP. It's a no brainer to stick with XP as far as I'm concerned (for the time being anyway). The thing is, I need to purchase a new computer. This will have to have XP installed on it.
Can someone please tell me if upgrading at a later date will be a problem? Will the XP OS be wiped and then Vista installed? Will it affect my computers performance with all those changes to the OS being made?

If you "upgrade" an XP machine your copy of XP becomes invalid...You can get a full install of Vista and dual boot....

Upgrading XP to Vista works well...Doing a clean install is a bit better..

Technically Vista does not do an upgrade of XP
It just uses your settings, and saves your stuff,

Then it puts XP in to a folder called windows old,
And does a fresh install,

I would do a dual boot system, that way when vista does become compatible
With what you need, you will know it right away,

Dual boot sounds good. Have o scrape up the extra cash for 2 OS's now.
