It shouldn't be any harder to transfer your data from XP to XP then it is for XP to Vista. Unless you were looking at a complete copy (registry).
If it is just files, or pictures, or music it will be very easy to transfer. |

I hear a number of complaints about Vista and i wonder just what they are. If i have programs used in xp can i also install those in the vista os. If any of you are using Vista I would like to hear if you like it or if xp was a better os.

Most people who complain about Vista are just a bunch of sheep who complain because thats the "cool" thing to do.
A small number of programs do not work on Vista, but most that didn't have been updated to work with Vista.
I have been using Vista for about 6 months now, there is one program I used to use which I would have liked to keep using, but I am fine without it (it was Sygate Personal Firewall, the program was sold off to Symantec and ruined, the old version which was still good hasn't been updated for years).
One of the first things you will want to do when you get your new computer is get rid of all the crapware on it. Like the trialware, like Norton, etc.
Also, which computer are you looking to buy? Maybe I can find a better one for less. |

I am presently looking at three different computers. They are Dell Dinension C521 for $399.shipped ell Inspiron 530s with 19"digital flat panel monitor and Dell Dimension E521 with monitor shipped. I have a flat panel 17" monitor so I really don't need that. Let me hear from you. thanks for your interest

Oh, you are looking at Dells, Dell was where I was going to look for a better deal for you (since they do have the best deals).
One other thing. Do not buy the memory upgrades from Dell. They are a complete rip off. If you want more ram I know a 2GB set of Crucial ram was on sale at Newegg.com (which would work in your Dell) for about $75 AR IIRC. |

I would advise against the C521. That case makes it tough to upgrade. The Inspiron desktops are getting very favorable feedback. |

I just got a 25% off (non-stackable) $699+ coupon from Dell Small Business. I have no use for it, so if you are interested in using it with your purchase (remember it has to be from Dell Small Business, and it is non-stackable, so any $ off that it shows will be substituted with the coupon). |
