Vista upgrade problem
Hello, This is my first post so, please, be gentle.

I am working with a compaq presario SR1630NX
Athlon 64 3500+
512MB of PC3200 DDR
Did the "upgrade" of Vista from xp pro today. It went perfect up until the very end. As I went to log on for the first time, I clicked my username, the screen went black and the computer rebooted.
It restarted and gave me this error
get_cdinfo (F3), int 13/ 4B01 (F3), err=1, drive=F2, 1(B1), err=1, drive=b1,
That disappears and it says..
Booting GRLDR
Resetting the bootdrive...success
Turning on gate A20...Success
Then that disappears and it says...
Boot drive=80, intb/4b01 (80), err=1, drive=80, notct
get_cdinfo(f1), intb/4b01 (F1), err=1,drive=f1,
Once again that disappears and I get
ACPI
Vista loader 2.1.2
Starting cmain()...open/default... int 13/41 (80), version=AA300005,
GRUB4DOS 0.4.3 2007-03-13, memory 638k/455m codeend:0x3d7bc
Then, just for a split second I see some more references to (int_13) and the number 80, and NTLDR, but it goes by so fast I cant read it.
Then for just another second it says
Done!
fallback 1
Find --set-root /bootmgr
see the attached photo for what happens next for about 8 seconds and then reboots to start the whole process over again.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Cool, the Vista "Matrix" screen.
I've yet to do a Vista install LET ALONE an Upgrade (not for a least 12 months to see if they get the kinks worked-out).
I hope you have your original XP disk or made a backup image of your drive you can recover.
Can you boot off the Vista Upgrade disk? Have you tried the "F8" go into Safe Mode and have a look around?

the last straw
I guess trying to install vista was the last straw on this hdd.
I finally gave up trying to fix it. Earlier I ran FDISK and deleted the existing partition. Resarted and created a new partition encompassing the whole hdd. Restarted again and formatted. Restarted again and ran fdisk to make the partition active and thats when fdisk started reporting that drive 1 could not be accessed.
Ran a couple of Debug routines to erase the whole hdd and sector 2. Rebooted and ran fdisk again. Still reporting that drive 1 is inaccessable.
Guess its time for a new HDD.
Gonna try to do a fresh install of Vista on the new HDD.

would be nice, but honestly what good is it? Its not like the phones have much surface area to spread that heat out over to heatsink fins or material, and the heatpipes would have to be nearly paper...
