PVR Box... Options?

Hello. I am going to build a small PVR box for my parlor.

The specs will be:
1GB DDR2 800MHz memory
Sempron 64 3000+
DVDRW (pata)
120GB Seagate (pata)
Gigabyte AMD690-based motherboard (uATX, HDMI and SPDIF optical out)
Hauppauge PVR150

I have three options:
1) Setup MythTV box (I've done it before on differing systems)
2) Setup XP and use my copy of SnapStream BTV
3) Setup Vista Ultimate and use MCE features

The easiest for me would be #1. I really want to keep this build as appliance-like as possible, and Myth fits that build. The only problem with Myth is that we will soon have to start paying program guides. I could do #2, but again I want it appliance-like.

I am interested in #3, according to MS this build does fit it's recommended requirements.

Does anyone have an experience with Vista with a similar (basic) setup? This system would just be used to record SD programming, perhaps some 'live tv' viewing and music/picture jukebox uses.

Any suggestions? Would it be easy to pare down Vista to just make it a video/music/media jukebox? Or should I stick with MythTV?

Thanks!
