Hey guys. I've got a laptop here that explorer crashes after starting. It doesn't matter if it starts at bootup or when i start it manually. Even in safe mode. If i use the command line to open the mmc and check event logs there are NO errors...anyone have any ideas what the hell could be up? I literally deleted EVERYTHING from my hijack this log. lol. I can't find any strange processes really.....I have NO idea what's wrong with this thing! :-/ Thanks for any help!

what's loading at boot-up? try disabling everything from the Startup tab and everything non-microsoft from the Services tab of MSCONFIG and see if it still crashes.
can you create a new administrator user account? if so, you may have more success logging into the new one. |

Never mind just disabling things from the startup, this even happens in safe mode. I think explorer might be corrupted but IDK how I can replace it without a repair install. Any ideas?

try start>run "sfc /scannow"
Make sure your OS disk is in the drive.

Already tried that. Don't forget to tell people to run sfc /purgecache first If their files are corrupted their cache probably is as well! New update though. Now it's telling me it's not a legal copy of windows. hp laptop. I installed it myself using the damn key on the bottom of the laptop... It is definitely a legal copy. Gonna have to call ms I think! ugh

Kevin | At $60 a call, you'd be better off driving to their HQ and beating them over the head with the laptop until it starts working. |
