| Missing programs in Add/Remove Programs
Like all of them!! I uninstalled a program from my computer and when it finished uninstalling, I got the normal message that the uninstall was successful. The Add/Remove programs window refreshed and now not one program is listed!!!
WIN98 SE - never seen this issue before. I installed a new program and now that new one is listed but still no others. I tried running any app from the Office suite and they launch then get an error message saying "In order to run this application, the application must be installed." I will be doing a reinstall of Office today.
Everything else seems to run fine. Is this list in the registry somewhere?
Any ideas on how to get the list of software back? |

Yes, the uninstall information is stored in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
If you have a backup of your registry, these keys can be restored...

Looking at another reg, it does not look hard to simply write new ones in given I have another machine to look at. |

Sitting there and writing each registry key with the proper value and key type would take forever. If you're certain the applications path is exactly the same, it would be much easier to import it rather than creating each and every key manually....
Just export the key(s) from the source machine and simply double click on the registry file in the destination machine you want to import that setting to...
Some of the registry keys will not display the way it is displayed in the Program Add/Remove list. I think this link will help you.... |
