| Harddisk Crashed - How to get all the data from C:\ ?
Well my harddisk has got lot of I/O errors and even though I can access all the data as secondary, I am not able to boot it from it.
Now I have lot of information in program files as well as in my user account documents and settings/my_name. so How can I retrieve maximum stuff from my C:\ partition ?
What about getting all firefox settings with plugin info and saved passwords ? |

If I understand you right you aren't able to access all of the data in your new partition which has your old data?
I would do as follows: create a large enough partition on the new drive to receive the data, and then clone it in. Most have an "explorer interface" that will let you search and cut and paste as needed.

My apologies for poorly framed Question. Let me reframe it.
On my system I have a hard disk A and due to frequent power failure, lot of sectors have got damaged. The C:\ partition too has got severly damaged. Now I am not able to boot it from this hard disk as all. but If I take the hard disk and put it on other PC as slave, I can access all the data.
Now the thing is, Even though I can see all the data in C:\, How to retrieve all the settings ? specially firefox settings ? all my passwords are stored in it. |

Install Firefox on your good drive, make a couple of bookmarks and passwords.
Then start opening files and look for them, then find that file on your old drive and paste it over. Be sure to look in Application Settings in Documents and Settings.
Also, maybe going to a Firefox forum may be a little more specific for you. |

You might be able to repair the installation of windows after you backup your documents. Depending on how bad the HDD is damaged and whether or not the damage is repairable. You will need your windows installation disc. |

Most hard drive manufactures have a utility that will transfer all data to a new drive,
I just used WD’s utility to transfer data to another drive, for a friend of mine, it worked good,
Windows booted normally on the new drive after I did the transfer,
So you might try looking at the hard drive website for a utility to do that, |
