Intel Core2 Quad versus AMD Dual Core2

I am looking at getting a new PC. I'm wondering about the difference between one with Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q6600 and AMD Dual Core2 ones.

An Intel Quad Core is going to be a better processor as it has 4 cores versus an AMD Duel core only having two.

Do you need the power of 4 cores? What do you plan on doing with the computer?

I understand but there is only $150 diff and the Intel one has a 20" instead of a 19" monitor, so??

I am in Canada and these Acer machines are at Costco and are only sold with monitor included. The Intel one is $850 and the AMD one is $150 less. Both have 2G of Ram and a 500G Sata HD. The specs of both are the same. They must be specially made for the company I would think.
Anyhow I have picked up one with Intel. Both these machines seem to be pretty good value. Both have Vista Home Premium but I will keep using XP Pro as I own it and XP Home Edition.
