| How to save win xp pro instead reformat then install again.
I know it sound stupid but I heard some of you did that.
I just want recovery disk when computer have new install of win xp pro but later it crash due virus but didn't want reformat then put product keys then huge trouble with active key. I hate call Microsoft because that. I think I did about 25 times and 10 times fail because stupid automatic messager say I gave wrong keys or say you already use that key and will not allow you use that plus refused to let me contact Customer service. I try reinstall my friend's laptop so I got angry then he bought win xp home so it install there.
If you don't understand what I am say.
It like system restore but I mean full restore back to new install? Like back up win xp pro with program on cd or dvd then later computer have problem but just insert disk in there then it back to oringial that it was set when new.
And I am tired of reformat then install win xp home or pro. I know it can save win xp pro on dvd then later it crash won't boot up or win xp pro gone then just put dvd in dvd's drive then restore then it have win xp pro again.

You can use Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost to do what you want. I make two backups when I build my systems. One with just the basic system files and another after I have installed programs onto it. Then I use Nero to burn to DVD.

I think you mean ghost a copy of your drive, but why not learn to surf safely and stop d/l viruses or get a good virus scanner and stop messing up your PC

How you can prevent that? I have antivirus but everyday you open firefox or program but later it start slow like every month it slow like 5% of performance is drop until you become angry with slow pop from any program like firefox got 30 sec to start but really when computer have new install on win xp pro it got 5 to 8 sec.
And It hard for me to tell everyone when they use my computer I told them no bad website or porn. Worse thing they thought game website is fine. wrong it make slowest like ram was 256 mb but really it 786 mb ram plus when run avg antispyware found 100 infections.
That why I thought try this so I won't call microsoft for product key to active it. |

You run firefox then use adblock too! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
I also recommend Noscript Except you may find it a pain to allow, allow temporally sites, but will help prevent what you are running into.
Do you have a product key sticker on the computer? If so, use that to change the key when installing windows. Call the number, input the new key on screen over the phone and the automated voice will read off the code. It should work. I had to do this for a virtual machine using OEM Windows XP pro.
Cloning will not work! You have already a malware ridin hard drive....right? Might as will reformat/reinstall. Cloning the computer right after install is a good idea though. Save that to a hard drive when you need it.
Gesh, second time I posted this link. http://www.malwarehelp.org/

I know about firefox. I do use ad block and fastfox
You mean I can;t save everything from new hard drive on HP? What I am try is save everything on cd then later computer have problem or erase all files so restore stuff from cd would work or not worth to do that?
And the reason why I hate to call Microsoft I am deaf so it hard for me because long numbers like 15 to 20 numbers then many time they say do again on #9 for numbers.
Hp just got win xp pro last night so no malware or virus or spywares. |

I have Xp Pro on a HP laptop it runs a little slow it is not terrible.
Besides the specs which I will skip, Always running a firewall with antivirus-malware-spyware software is A MUST at ALL TIMES while CONNECTED to the net.
Buy your software, you will obtain more value and use.
Some antivirus-malware-spyware software is more user friendly AVG is a little lacking, Trend Micro is better, Norton can be a pain, McAfee can't say I haven't use it recently, Ad-Aware SE Personal is useful, use Disk Cleanup, Disk Defragmenter, look for some registry maintainance software.
A large number of losted shortcur connections can be a problem.
Do Not load a lot of FONTs, having a lot of windows opened at once is a problem - I locked my computer up last night-I had 47 Internet explorer windows opened and a few other things.
Backup ALL and I mean ALL text files, music, HTML, Photos, and other USER data storage files BEFORE reinstalling windows or Formating drives.
Delete on a regular bases file cookies, History files, MAYBE Temp files.
Do NOT run any computer or OS with a low amount of drive space, try to keep 30% clear,50% is great. If you visit crap sites expect problems . DO NOT open or download E-Mail from persons or locations you do not know, dump it - trash it UNOPENED. |
