| Trying to make graph in Excel
I've made simple graphs in Excel before, but seem to be having difficultly with a 4 column table which needs to be converted into a graph. I've attached the document. I'm using Office 2007, so as far as I'm aware, there isn't any wizard.

I'll try to help.
Quick answer, select insert, chart, and pick the type of chart. Enter the source data where prompted.
If that's too general, can you tell me a little more about what you expect to accomplish with the chart? In other words, how would you draw the chart by hand? I see you have a Dates column, a column named Dollar, a column named Mark, and a column named Pound. How would you want to see these 4 items on a chart? Are you trying to track by date? Have the date as one axis and all 3 monetary amounts as the other axis?

I think the problem is when trying to enter in the data, and telling it what to display and where, but I've been playing around with it and it doesn't seem to be doing the right thing.
This is what I am trying to accomplish.
The data needs to be displayed using a Line chart
Along the X axis, I want to the the time (years) - as there is over 5 years worth of data there that needs to be displayed, it's probably practical if it displays the data at every 6 month intervals or so.
Along the Y axis, the figures need to be displayed, from O to 2 or what ever Excel sees fit.
Now, this is probably the tricky part. On the graph itself, there needs to be 3 lines:
Line one is going to be the DOLLAR line - as this is 1 all the way through the table this is also going to one straight line running through the graph.
Line two is going to be the MARK line - as these have different values, these will fluctuate on the graph
Line three is going to be POUND line - just like line 2, this line will also fluctuate with the number of the Y axis
So all in all, there should be 3 lines on the graph.
Hope that explains it. It a graph that shows the exchange rate over the 5 years or so, as you would have gathered. |
