Vista Map Drive Access

Was finally able to get other PC's to "see" a shared Vista partition.

Went to Network and found the share, but it's slow.

So I mapped a network drive to the share and it's just as slow; maybe a mintue to pull-up a folders contents. When I was XP based, this would take a second or two.

I am wireless, but that should not matter as it was fast in XP.

Any ideas?

SP1 fixed that problem, so they say I have not networked vista yet so I have never tried it, but I read that it was really slow, SP1 claims to have solved it

Performance
Windows Vista SP1 includes many performance enhancements. For example, SP1:
 Addresses an issue in the current version of Windows Vista that makes browsing network file shares consume significant bandwidth and not perform as quickly as expected.
 Improves the performance of copying files. In internal tests, copying files from one folder to another on the same local disk was 25 percent faster. Copying files from a remote computer that was not running Windows Vista SP1 was 45 percent faster. Because of networking

If you get an "Access Denied" message, you need to add the "group" to the Security tab too (under Properties of the share).

For me, that was "Everyone".

It's funny, only one folder is really slow; I have some folders with 100's of pictues and it comes up fast.

I as well, will be looking forward to SP1!

As a side note, I've been using Vista Business for about 8 months and REALLY, have not had any problems. Actually have it on 2 machines (we have a Microsoft Agreement at work and I get it for $90).

One is a gamer (C2D, 1.8 Ghz, 2 Gig RAM, Radeon X1950 Pro), other is a file server (Celeron 3.4 Ghz, 2 Gig RAM, on-board GPU, 160 Gig SATA, 200 Gig external drive and 250 Gig external drive). Both machines have been extemely stable and without software/driver confilcts.

I thought it was already out, as one of my work colleages mentioned that he had DL'd it during the last week...

I also know that, if you've got files on a network drive, you can't have any sort of password on the folder or Fista won't be able to see it... Having said that, this is slightly off topic, as you're able to see things - just it takes a while to see schtuffs....

SP1 release candidate is out, this is not the final version of SP1 though.

Where have you been hiding? SP1 is old news now, it's been available for quite some time.

Second... It's Vista, not Fista

He knows what he is saying. He's implying that you are "being fisted" if you switch to Vista. Thus the name "Fista". If you don't know what "being fisted" means, I'm not going to explain it to you.
