Resetting back to desktop?

I have XP on a Pentium2pc. Lately, from the cold boot up, it has been opening to Local Drive C. I have to X it out to get to the Desktop.
Now, I have done an Adware check using Ad-Aware, I run Antivirus software continuously and had it do a seperate scan, and did an AVG scan. Notta. So I am thinking it must be a setting that I accidently did (somewhere I told it where to go and the computer is just following orders)
Where, pray tell, is that location so I can get back to stopping on the desktop.?
