PC doesn't boot, win xp doesn't load

Greetings,

Please help. I have two problems:

I can not boot up my newly assembled computer as specified on 2 bellow.

2: I can not reinstall win xp on my newly built computer with P5KPL-E motherboard, Core 2 Duo cpu and two DDR2 memories, 2GB and 1GB .

1- It started working alright after I assembled it. It was booting up from the hard Drive from my old computer. Then after a few days developed a fault. It couldn’t boot up any more. Each time, I put it on, after reaching win xp logo, it stopps going further and restarts from the beginning of bios, after which it presents an apology message for the failure of window to load and presents a list about how to load window like normal or safe mode. If I want to start it normally, it repeats the same thing, it stops at win xp logo and restarts at the beginning of bios and continues to the apology message. If I want to start it at safe mode, it will stop at the line bellow and go back to the beginning of bios and to the apology message.

2- When I boot it up from win xp CD, it stops with error lines of 1 and 2 bellow with the message that the window stopped to prevent computer damaged with instruction to disable any driver, which is responsible, or contact the vendors. This happens after window loads all the files and just before the screen to install window or to do window repair comes up

This happens even when I disconnect the hard Drive (boot up HD) from the computer.

Actions, I have taken but not helped:

1-I have done memory swapping.
2-I have booted it up with Western Digital HD installations floppy disk to format a new Western Digital Sata HD as boot up HD. Win XP and all files from my old HD moved to this one. This HD can boot up my old computer but not boot up the new one.
3- I have updated the bios with help of my old computer with the use of flash memories and floppy boot up.

My guess would overheating or bad RAM. Swapping is not definitive.

Hi, and firstly, WELCOME TO TECHIMO....!

Okay, I would suggest you remove one stick of RAM and see how you go, if you're still having failures then try swapping to the other (single) stick. This is to try to rule out one of the sticks of RAM being faulty.

With regards to swapping the HDD from another computer, that wouldn't normally work - especially if it has different hardware... At roughly what point does it BSOD when you're trying to re-install...?

Try going down to one stick of RAM and see if you can BOOT to the XP CD, and let us know how it goes.....

Systems rebooting at that point can be hard to troubleshoot. What's the power supply in the new system?

May be an overloaded power supply, other than that, I'm with Bill.

Yeah, but doesn't a CPU have a safety feature that stops it BOOTing for a while if it senses that it is overheating...?

Now who believes this!!! Now my newly assembled computer is working perfectly while both problems still exist: 1: it can not boot up from a boot up HD with newly installed win xp, 2: It can boot up from win xp CD but stops before opening of the screen where you can choose to install win xp or repair it or exit installation.

But how I made it working side by side with these two serious faults? To answer this, I have to go back to the point when I assembled it and boot it up with the boot up HD from my old computer. Apparently the faults existed at that time but they were not known because the computer was booting up. But they became known after I tried to reinstall win xp from win xp cd. This is because the boot up HD from my old computer became infected by a virus.

Because I couldn’t reinstall win xp on the newly assembled computer, I tried the old computer. It worked. Win xp reinstalled on a clean newly formatted HD, not the same virus-infected HD. The old computer was booting up correctly. But when I connected the HD, with newly installed win xp, to the new computer, it didn’t work. The computer couldn’t boot up, it started going around between the beginning of the bios and win xp logo.

Let me to talk about the virus-infected HD, the one from my old computer and booted up my newly assembled computer. I bought this HD a few months ago and it was carrying a boot up image of another HD, which I had on my old computer for at least three years. It carries the date of 17 Feb 2004. I connected this old boot up HD to the new computer. It didn’t work. The bios read it as faulty HD and I had to back up. I connected it to the old computer. It worked. The old computer booted up correctly. After that, I put the image of this old boot up HD again on a new HD. It has a date of 18 April 2k8. I used the old computer. When I fitted this new HD to my newly assembled computer, it worked.

The new computer is working now without any problem side by side with both existing faults. I am going to put the image of this old boot up HD on a new spare HD just in case I need it.

Finally I would like to thank a lot to all those kind people, who contributed to help.
