Mozilla Thunderbird Problem

I've just switched to a 'new' computer - one I bought a couple of years ago and forgot about.

An HP Media machine for what it's worth.

Been using Thunderbird as a default mail client for years and now that I've installed it and set it up it won't set as my default mail client.

Every time I open it - it asks if I want it to be the default mail client and I click yes.

Next time I open it it asks all over again.

What's up?

Bill

Isn't there a box that you can check when that message pops up asking not to show the message again, or don't ask again? If you go into Tools/Options/General there on the top is the system defaults. You can check/uncheck the box to see if T-Bird is the default mail program, or you can click "Check Now", and see if E-Mail is checked as the default client, or check/uncheck the box to perform this check when starting Thunderbird. Fool around with it, and one of the option should work for you.

Think I've done both but I'll give it another try.

The pain of it is in Firefox one of the Addons I have is: Right Click > Email This! > (Mail- To This! (Windows/OS-X/Linux)
which used to open Thunderbirds's last used profile.

Was kind of handy.

No luck - everything says Thunderbird is default mail client except Thunderbird doesn't know it.

The only other thing I can say is (besides reload T-Bird) go into WIndows Explorer\Tools\Folder options\File Types: You should have a file type (right side) called URL:mailTo Protocol. Ensure that it's setup as T-bird for the default.
