I have been hearing a lot of raves about running Windows on a Linux machine using virtualization. Does anyone know where to find a good guide to building this from scratch? Also any truth to the rumor that Windows runs better in a virtual environment than natively on the hardware?

Something I did a while ago, I am sure its not hard to install vmware server on the newest ubuntu on the internet.
There are two things that come to mind when it comes to running virtualization on Linux. Linux has a server version so that your resources are not used up by a GUI like windows. One thing that is very annoying running vmware server on windows is with updates you have to reboot the host, which interferes with the vm.
