Hi,
I am working on a Technical Paper and have had a couple of MS Word glitches that have cost me two days writing.
The first one was Saturday. I started my PC as normal and started Word, I clicked on file and went to open the file I have been working on for a week. I got an error message saying the file name was no good and the file couldn't be found.
I looked in MY Docs where it was stored and saw the file name and the size on disk of 380 Kb. This led e to believe that this file was not lost but just somehow not able to be opened.
No matter what I tried I couldn't open it. I had an earlier part of the work on USB Stick so I started using that and had to re do the previous 2 days work.
It was ok Saturday and yesterday and for the most part this morning. I was adding titles to the contents pages ( I have created tables to hold this info) I typed a name moved to the next box and typed another, nothing happened at first then the whole page turned to squares and dots and odd text then an MS Word is not Responding window came up.
I closed it down and re opened word, it wouldn't open and got stuck trying to open this document ( recovered).
I restarted machine by using Restart command not by hard reboot and opened Word again. I can now see my document but no changes made to it at all today.
I have it set to auto recover every 3 mins and click the save icon as regularly as I can- What is happening here?
I look forward to anyone being able to help me here , in the meantime I will get typing again.
Oh Yes, I am running Win XP Pro and MSWORD 2003 installed as part of Office Package.

Nodnerb:
Did you try deleting normal.dot? This is always the first thing to try when experiencing MS Word problems. |
