| How to get desktop icons back on desktop (from toolbar)?
I've been working on getting a friend's computer cleaned up and updated from the nasty Antivirus XP 2008 infection. One of the things it does is move all your desktop icons into a toolbar in the taskbar. How can I restore this back to normal? On XP with SP3. |

Have you tried dragging them from the taskbar back onto the desktop?

Yeah, it looks like if I do that they'll all be "Shortcut to..." with the little arrows. I don't really want to deal with that. |

You can right click on the icon, click on Rename and remove the "Short cut to". |

Yeah - the tool bar is the generic "Desktop" toolbar. You can kill it.
