Format new HDD

I just got a new HDD and I want to connect it. But before that can some one tell me how to format and partition it. (I want XP btw)

If you're going to be Installing XP on it, the installation will automatically prompt you to format it and give you options/keys to press.

Been a while since I've installed, but I'm not sure you're ASKED to partition, you would just make the C:\ drive smaller than the MAX capacity of the drive. Then you'll have that unused portion to format into another partition.
