Keyboard and mouse lost when uninstalled Zenworks remote management
Odd problem I stumpled upon yesterday,
(background info)
w2k sp1, novell client 4.81.1.0
When uninstalling the remote management via application explorer, I interrupted the process (didn't seem to do anything so I decided to reboot it, and the uninstallation didn't complete). After the reboot, the keyboard and mouse were gone, couldn't do anything with the keyboard and there is no mouse cursor available.
Thus, the machine is inoperatible. I tried repairing the machine with w2k cdrom and via recovery console, to no avail.
This doesn't occur if the uninstallation finishes uninterrupted, but if it is interrupted, everything is lost.
What could fix this?

Might be a long shot, but try using a USB keyboard/mouse.

During bootup, press F8 and try booting to the last known good state.
Just an option, don't know if it will work or not.

USB doesn't help.
Nor does f8, whenever the machine get's the w2k picture showing (this is after the black screen with bar) those two devices are lost.

Try just having the keyboard plugged in. And do the F8, Last Known good configuration.
Can you get to the BIOS, before 2K loads?

So this computer must be on a network(?)... can you access it remotely? Maybe put a common trojan like BO in the startup folder then reboot (or use Task Scheduler). Then take remote control of it to reinstall/uninstall the Novell client.

This means that none of the options given by f8 help, I've tried them all.Originally posted by muno
Nor does f8

Yep, the computer is on a network. But I can't access it remotely, there are no shares. I recall the hidden shares are disabled by group policies. But that was a good idea.

Change the GP to allow it (if needed, create a separate OU just for this special policy setting).
Also, use Computer Manager to create the new shares (from a remote workstation).

Nooooo

I can't do that since I don't administer the novell here, nor the domain.
Sorry if I've wasted your time here, I'm just too eager to learn new stuff
Hmm.. Could I connect to the machines registry from a remote machine?

Start Regedit and then choose to connect to a remote machine.
