open office 1.0: $0, plus connection fees.

hehehe, it's more or less the same technology, so save your 76 bucks for something else

Some people prefer support from the company, and $76 is a lot cheaper than M$ Office at $400+

Besides at $76 for CDs, printed manuals, and support, the price is not bad.. especially for those that do not have high-speed. And, it never hurts to support M$'s competitors

nah i'll take something i can get for free rather than something i have to cough up almost 80 bucks for.

besides, i could care less about supporting anyone, i use what works (including ms office)

Free is nice -and OpenOffice.org is basically StarOffice by another name, but I like the thesarus and database that come with Star Office -I'll pay $76 for it no peoblem ....although I already have it with my Mandrake 8.2 Powerpack...... I'll buy another license in a couple of months just to get the box, manuals, and help Sun in their effort.
