Any Good USB Diagnostic software

My question is, is there any software you can run from a flash drive that can emulate floppy disk diagnostic software like memtest86? I want to learn how to test hardware performance to rule eliminate unnecessary work, that can do more harm than good. I looked into ultimate boot CD, only to find that use on a thumb drive would be experimental. But that is exactly the utility I desire. I would like to have this software on floppy, flash drive and CD. Thanks.

Booting from a USB is totally dependent on the BIOS having that option. Older PCs cannot boot from USB drives, so your diagnostic device would have very limited use.

Good insite

Thanks for the heads up! I'm trying to equip myself as best as possible. I looked into the first response and that was great info! I am going to try to have something on CD, floppy and USB to cover the field.

That's what I was thinking. A lot of mother boards don't support boot from USB. Better to have a CD instead.
