.NET Framework 3.5 Error

I have been trying to install Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 on my computer because I just purchased Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. It gives me and error when I install .NET framework 3.5 it wont tell me the error details or anything. I have Microsoft Windows XP SP3 and all of the specific requirments hardware wise. Does anybody have any ideas what the problem might be?

i had the same problem a while back. I would recommend going onto microsofts website and downloading the .net framework 3.5 redistributable package. Also, do you have all the updates for .net 1.0, 2.0 as well? That might also attribute to not being able to install 3.5 correctly.

I uninstalled Framework 1.0 and 2.0 should I reinstall them? Also did you have Windows XP SP3 when you got the error Im not sure exactly what the problem is.

I am new here with a first post:

I have a Dell Dimension E521 and was advised by the company to upload (free) the .Net Framework 2.0 release version. It did not say anything about 3.0. Do I have to load it?

I am just a guy with simple uses: MS XP Professional, MS Office, email, etc. but no video, gambling, music, or games.

Do I have to load it? The machine is running fine.
