What is the best registry cleaner out there? Free or otherwise?
I use RegCleaner..( http://www.jv16.org/ ) ...which is good for uninstalling programs etc, but what about a cleaner to get rid of junk links, errors etc...what do you use and have you had good luck with it?
Thanks, JP

Norton SystemWorks2002, comes with WinDoctor...gets rid of exactly what you posted...junk links, registry errors, bad shortcuts, etc. I thoroughly enjoy it!

I think Regcleaner identifies most junk. An ancient M$$ program called Regmaid.exe works on both W9X and at least NT4 and roots out orphaned CSLID & other obscure keys & prb'ly still d/ldable at M$$ somewhere. |

System Mechanic, by Iolo.com, has a nice Registry Cleaner in it. But it basically does the same as the others mentioned. I like it because it has other features included. A nice Maintenance utility all around. It is around 45-50 dollars, US. They just released a CD Version that runs off the CD and doesnt need to be installed! I have been eyeing this, but afraid that is all it is going to be... eyeing. It carries a nice hefty price... hehe. |

Yep, System Mechanic's registry cleaner 3.6g has been most effective. As for the update 3.7, it had a flaw where it was causing problems after running registry cleaner when I used the scheduled task for cookie management.
