Someone has to do it. What do those who love Linux (since hate is generally irrational and to strong a word, I'll go with) despise (instead)?
to Steve RJ, It took me a loooong time to kick 2k to the curb in favor of XP. It'll take a lot longer for me to kick XP for anything else from M$. Of couse, I also use Linux when necessary. I actually should be using it a lot more for my Web surfing.

As long as no one sticks a gun to your head - you - me and everyone can use whatever OS we want.
Can you tell what OS I'm using to type this? More importantly - does anyone care
ps. Did anyone read the article in the orignal post? Quote: |
Yes, there’s a learning curve. And if you insist on using those techniques you learned back in the last millennium with software that was designed differently, you will be frustrated.
| So very true. |

I really enjoyed the article and actually learned about some short cuts i didnt know about. I definitely agree with the article in that many of the things that people gripe about with Vista and now Windows 7 is that they are stuck in their ways about how things work after so long of using the "Familiar" interface of 95/98/2k/XP.
Personally, I have used Vista but do not run it on any of my machines. I havnt needed to upgrade so i havnt made that jump yet. Would I? In a heart beat and without much recourse im sure.
Windows 7 appears to be a positive step in the right direction. I think they learned so much about what the user wants and when given to them, they dont know how to react. I honestly think that ALL users secretly wanted these easier ways to do them but are shocked that Microsoft actually provided them they have to lash out and hate it because its different ... (not to mention more intuitive with the way we think with wanting a search feature) but anyways i digress.
Cheers to M$ for their developments! |

I use Xp and Vista. With the proper customization, both work fine. Any geek who's worth his weight in silicon knows that anything that MS does needs to be tweaked before it is good. Ed Bott did a good job hammering this in, but I'll debate him on this point: Quote: |
If you rely on desktop icons, you have to minimize all open windows first before you can even see the icons on the desktop, then you have to click them. That adds unnecessary steps to every navigation option, and adds still more steps to get back to the windows you were working with previously.
| With vista, one alt + tab minimizes your windows and puts you back on the desktop. IMO, desktop shortcuts for frequently accessed programs are way better than searching through them on the start bar.
